
World's top 10 airlines 2017: Skytrax has revealed its picks for the best airlines of 2017. Completing Skytrax's top 10 list, Garuda Indonesia moved up a spot to the tenth position this year.

World's best airlines #9: After a big leap from 22th to 12th place in last year's chart, Hainan Airlines came ninth in 2017. It was also named the best airline in China.

World's best airlines #8: The UAE's Etihad Airways dropped from sixth to eighth place this year. It was awarded for having the world's best First Class cabin.

World's best airlines #7: Germany's Lufthansa took the seventh position in the list. It was also named the best airline in Europe.

World's best airlines #6: The rapidly rising Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has continued to improve its rating this year -- ranking sixth. It was also awarded for having the best Business Class amenities and the cleanest cabins.

World's best airlines #5: Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific was voted the fifth best airline in the 2017 list.

World's best airlines #4: Last year's winner, Emirates came fourth this year. The airline also won the best in-flight entertainment award.

World's best airlines #3: Ranked third globally, Japanese carrier ANA was also given a prize for providing the best airport services in the world.

World's best airlines #2: Ranked second in the world this year, Singapore Airlines has once again been named the best airline in Asia.

World's best cabin staff: For the fourth consecutive year, Garuda Indonesia won the world's best cabin staff award.

World's Best Airline Alliance: With 28 member airlines, Star Alliance was named the world's best airline alliance for the second successive year. It was said to have the best airline alliance lounge for the third straight year.

World's best Business Class: In addition to being the best airline, Qatar was named as having the best Business Class. But the world's best Business Class seat award went to Singapore Airlines.

World's best Premium Economy Class: Failing to stay in the top 10 list this year (ranking 20th), Aussie airline Qantas still leads in the Premium Economy race. It was awarded for having the best Premium Economy Class as well as the best Premium Economy Class airline seat.

World's best Economy Class: Thai Airways took home three awards, including the world's best Economy Class, the best Economy on-board catering and the best airline lounge spa facilities.

Best in-flight meals: Singapore Airlines was said to have the best in-flight meal in Premium Economy Class. The best Business Class catering went to Turkish Airlines.

Best First Class on-board catering: It's hard to beat Etihad Airways when it comes to First Class catering. The airline offers a chef to serve up in-flight meals to passengers.

Best Economy Class airline seat: Although the best overall Economy Class cabin award went to Thai Airways, Japan Airlines is said to have the most comfortable Economy Class seat.

Best low-cost airline: AirAsia was named the world's best low-cost carrier once again. Its long-haul sister brand AirAsia X was given the best Premium cabin award among budget airlines.

World's best long-haul low-cost airline: For the fifth successive year Norwegian Airline was voted the best low-cost airline in Europe. It's also the world's best low-cost airline for long-haul flights.

World's most improved airlines: Saudi Arabian Airlines won an award for being the world's most improved airline.

Alaska Airlines: The only US winner, Alaska bagged awards for the best airline staff in North America and the best regional airline in North America.

Best lounge dining: For dining options before boarding, Lufthansa offers the best First Class lounge catering (pictured here). Turkish Airlines has the best Business Class lounge dining.

World's best independent airport lounge: With more than 140 locations in airports around the world, Plaza Premium operates the best independent airport lounges. Turkish Airlines has the best Business Class airline lounge and Qatar Airways has the best First Class lounge.
