Sony recently unveiled the PS5 Pro, which boasts higher capabilities over the regular PS5 for even smoother, more immersive 4K gaming. Its key specs include an upgraded GPU, which gives the Pro 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the base console. Additionally, it has up to 45% faster gameplay rendering. It also features advanced ray tracing as well as AI-driven upscaling to create even higher visual fidelity for the best PS5 games.
We’ll have to get our hands on one to see just how big a leap it is over the original PS5, but on paper, the PS5 Pro looks like the ideal splurge for gamers who have money to burn and don’t want to have to choose between visual fidelity and sheer performance. And much like the original PS5 a few years back, it’s already selling fast.
PS5 Pro release date and preorders
The PS5 Pro's advanced specs promise even more advanced visuals and smoother performance, allowing you to game in 4K at up to a silky 120 frames per second.
The PS5 Pro is set to launch on Nov. 7 at an eye-watering price of $700, and preorders started on Sept. 26 over on the official PlayStation Direct store website. Fortunately, at the time of this writing, the Pro is still in stock over there. It will be available for preorder at major retailers, such as Best Buy and Amazon, starting on Oct. 10.
PlayStation 30th Anniversary bundles and accessories
This limited-edition bundle gets you a PS5 Pro and a boatload of key accessories, all sporting a nostalgic gray paint job inspired by the OG PlayStation.
Don't need a PS5 Pro? The standard, slimmed-down PS5 Digital Edition is also available in an old-school 30th Anniversary coat of paint.
This stand-alone disc drive lets you play disc-based games on Digital Edition consoles, including the new PS5 Pro.
There’s also a special limited-edition 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro that’s stylized in gray like the original PlayStation console, which enthusiasts and collectors are sure to love. However, the only way to get it is to preorder the 30th anniversary bundle, which is exclusive to the PlayStation Direct Store for $1,000.
It comes with the limited-edition console, a DualSense Edge wireless controller, a charging stand, a console cover for disc drive and a vertical stand. It also includes some bonus goodies such as a poster, sticker and other printed materials.
Unfortunately, the 30th Anniversary bundle has since sold out and it’s unknown whether Sony will have more in stock. At the moment, the only other option is to buy the bundle from resellers on third-party websites like eBay for a marked-up cost upwards of thousands of dollars.
There’s a 30th Anniversary PS5 Digital Edition (slim) that’s available as well. Thankfully, this console will be available at other participating retailers on Oct. 10 too.

The PlayStation Portal is a great (but pricey) way to play your PS5 games away from your TV, and it now comes in a tempting classic PlayStation gray.
While the 30th anniversary PS5 Pro console itself is only available through the bundle on PlayStation Direct, accessories like the 30th anniversary DualSense Edge can be bought separately on PlayStation Direct, and the regular DualSense is available at other retailers starting on Sept. 26.
It’s important to note that the PS5 Pro is a digital-only console, so if you want to use your physical discs, then you’ll have to purchase a separate PS5 disc reader. It works for both the Pro and Digital Edition (PS5 slim) models. For those who like to utilize the PS5’s Remote Play features, there’s also the 30th anniversary PlayStation Portal remote player.
At the time of this writing, all of the 30th Anniversary items on PlayStation Direct and other retailers are sold out. However, the regular PS5 Pro is still readily available on PlayStation Direct and will be coming to other retailers on Oct. 10. It’s currently unknown if Sony will restock any of the 30th Anniversary items.
