Usain Bolt won the first of his six Olympic gold medals in the 100m at Beijing 2008, crossing the line ahead of Trinidad and Tobago's Richard Thomson and USA's Walter Dix.

Partnered by Michael Frater, Asafa Powell and Nesta Carter, Bolt claimed gold in the 4x100m relay in a then record time of 37.10.

Bolt's first Olympic triple was completed with the 200m gold medal, beating American pair Shawn Crawford and Walter Dix to the crown.

A year later, Bolt went on to set the current 100m world record, recording a time of 9.58s at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

Days later at the same competition, Bolt won the 200m final and set another world record in the process, running 19.19s.

Bolt made it four Olympic gold medals out of four by winning the 100m final at London 2012, beating compatriot Yohan Blake and rival Justin Gatlin to the line.

The Jamaican added a fifth gold to his haul with victory in the 200m final, finishing ahead of fellow countrymen Blake and Warren Weir.

Bolt's historic "double-triple" sweep of gold medals was complete after winning the 4x100m relay with teammates Blake, Carter and Frater, recording the current world record of 36.84s in the process.
