CNN asked England captain Emily Scarratt for the lowdown on some of the standout stars in the Women's Sevens World Series.

Nadezda Kudinova, Russia —
"She's the stalwart of the team and is involved with everything the team does," Scarratt says of Russia's captain, who was shortlisted for the 2015 World Sevens player of the year award. "She's deceivingly quick but really tough and is at the heart at all the action."

Emma Tonegato, Australia —
The former rugby league player made her debut in 2013 and has since caught the eye with a number of superb displays. "She's very quick," Scarratt says of the 20-year-old. "A lot of the Australians are from a touch rugby background and play in a way where they're moving you around -- it's very tiring." Read more: Aussie strongwoman lifts teammates

Sarah Goss, New Zealand —
"We always have a good little battle at kickoff time, that's something I look forward to when I play against her," Scarratt says of the 23-year-old New Zealand captain. "She's a seriously tough forward."

Ghislaine Landry, Canada —
She finished the 2014-15 season first overall in scoring with 301 points and her 521 points are the second highest in World Rugby Women's Sevens Series history behind New Zealand's Portia Woodman. "She's very quick," Scarratt says.

Patricia Garcia, Spain —
"Any half line-break, she's awesome at covering and getting straight on the ball," said Scarratt says of the Spanish playmaker. "As an opponent, it's very frustrating when you think you've done something good and then she's got the ball and turned it over."
Marjorie Mayans, France —
"She's a really tough cookie," Scarratt says of the 25-year-old, who played at the 15-a-side World Cup in 2014. "She carries the ball really well, does the stuff that not everyone likes to do in sevens because it's a bit too gritty."

Jillion Potter , United States —
The 29-year-old U.S. captain has overcome cancer and major surgery during a successful sevens career. "Jillion has an unreal story, having come back from what she's been through," Scarratt says. "To have her back on the field means an awful lot to everyone."
