Emily Scarratt (left) is one of the world's top women's rugby players.

The England captain could be one of the standout stars at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Sevens will make its debut at Rio 2016 in August.

England's women went from amateur players to professional in 2014 after receiving funding from the UK lottery. The inclusion of sevens as an OIympic sport persuaded Scarratt to switch from the 15-a-side game.

Scarratt scored 16 points as England beat Canada 21-9 in the 2014 World Cup final in France, including a decisive late try.

Before going pro, Scarratt worked as an assistant physical education teacher while playing for England in her spare time.

Scarratt started playing rugby at the age of five but excelled in a number of other sports, including basketball -- turning down a U.S. college scholarship.
