<em>Piss Christ (1987), Andres Serrano</em><br /><br />Historically, repurposing religious iconography has been a surefire way to scandalize due to enduring cultural taboos. When Andres Serrano displayed "Piss Christ," a photograph of a crucifix submerged in the artist's urine, it was widely seen as disrespectful to Christians.
